Zero waste fashion design

Sustainable zero waste fashion project

GMODA 2015 Awards – Zero waste Design

This zero waste fashion design project reflects a commitment to eco-design, prioritizing sustainability at every stage of the garment’s life cycle. A carefully planned methodology was implemented to minimize environmental impact, from the initial design phase to the garment’s eventual disposal.

At the core of this sustainable zero waste fashion approach is the zero waste garment design technique, where the pattern-cutting process is meticulously structured to ensure that 100% of the fabric’s cutting area is used, eliminating textile waste during production.

The garment is made from a single material: 100% wool, a monomaterial choice that simplifies the recycling process. This ensures that the fabric can be fully recycled into new wool fibers once the garment reaches the end of its useful life.

Designed with timelessness and versatility in mind, this piece goes beyond fleeting fashion trends, extending its usability and lifespan. This project reinforces the belief that the longevity of a garment depends not only on material quality but also on intentional, thoughtful design choices that support a truly sustainable zero waste fashion industry.
